A Prayer of Questions and Answers: By Bimal Lal Shrestha, Dr. Shrestha's son.
I asked what the goal should be,
You said, "Eternal peace."
I asked again,
And you said, "Achieve a smile on someone's painful face."
I asked what the path should be,
You said, "The path of duty."
I asked again,
And you said, "Tidy your bed every morning."
I asked what the method should be,
You said, "Education with a purpose."
I asked again,
And you said, "Learn how to respect and love."
I asked how to achieve this in a big wide world,
You said, "International brotherhood."
I asked again,
And you said, "Greet every guest with a beautiful and respectful
'Namaste' from the heart."
I asked how to organize the platform,
You said, "Man making"
I asked again,
And you said, "Get a new friend and share your meals and ideals
with him."
I asked what I ought to do,
You said, "I'd do everything to live a life closest to nature."
I asked again,
And you said, "Take the babies away from the cough syrup and nearer
to the green trees."
So many things I asked and would have asked,
Your answers formed a lead that I continue to follow for the rest of
the answers.
Without a finger to hold but now a bright star to follow,
Guide me along the path to the goal.
Om Shanti Shanti Shanti
