HVP UK Meeting 26th January 2008
On January 26th 2008 a meeting of HVP UK was held in Cambridge, followed by a social gathering over a curry. Both events were well attended, and it was fantastic to see familiar faces and a few new ones.

Among the many points discussed was the inclusion of new positions in the committee in order to maximise the energy and enthusiasm of as many members as possible, and to take pressure off volunteers currently filling roles that have increased as the charity has grown and developed.
Also discussed was the possibility of HVP UK expanding its support from the HVP schools to other associated activities in Nepal organised by the HVP Nepal figureheads through several newly founded bodies including the Shanti Sewa Ashram and Children's Peace Home. Activities deemed worthy of support included vocational training programmes offered for unemployed widows. To this end, an evaluation of the charity's constitution will be undergone by the trustees, and possible amendments put up for discussion at the mext meeting.

New HVP UK Treasurer
HVP UK are delighted to announce the appointment of April Coetzee as the new Treasurer. April takes over from Alan Marklew, who for many years has managed the finances of the charity and who has guided HVP UK expertly through a period of dramatic growth and infrastructural change.
The handover from Alan to April will be taking place within the next two months. The whole of HVP UK extends huge thanks to Alan for his years of invaluable service, and for the deep and enduring impression he has left on the charity, its systems and all committee members who have been privileged to work with him over the past years.
